Showing at Site #8: The Skate House
I will be showing my work at The Skate House 5 Meade street S.O.I have been an artist creating with all kinds of materials most of my life. I have spent most of my working career in some form of creative field. I worked as a jewelry designer for 25 years and am currently an art teacher and ceramic artist. The art I create and my pottery collection combine my love of sculpture, painting, gardening and all things natural. My work is an extension of myself. Each piece is unique even when it is one of multiples. I use photos I take of my garden for my inspiration in my floral designs. I create marbled clay in different colors and use it to create sculptural functional pieces. My travels to Japan have influenced my sensibility in shape and form. My love of color drives my designs. My years as a jewelry designer shape how I put together my collections, with a range of prices, sizes and styles. I consider my self a maximalist. I have many different styles and collections. I consider my artistry earthy and elegant. The pottery collection is made with high fire stone ware and uses food safe glazes.
