Showing at Site #2: 1978 Arts Center
I work in a wide variety of subjects and media, including watercolor, acrylic, glass mosaic, seed bead, and more.
My most current work is gardens on canvas. I paint fields and meadows with many different plants, as well as pieces with just one type of flower (such as daffodils or poppies).
In addition to floral art, I also have enjoyed making aerial map paintings & mosaics for the past several years. After battling breast cancer as a single mother, I realized the endless possibilities available to me to go anywhere and be anything, and I began exploring that theme in my art. My maps feature places all over the world, from the view out the airplane window above Newark Airport to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul!
I studied Illustration at Parsons School of Design and have a BFA with a minor in Printmaking from Montclair State University. Highlights from my 30+ year career include creating a mural on a large utility box outside Columbia High School, participating in residencies in France, and even making jewelry for SZA!
When I’m not in the studio, I teach art classes at libraries, senior centers & organizations such as JESPY House and the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race.
